Is it convenient travelling in korea without knowing much korean? Can the locals speak a little english?
Q. I'm planning to travel to Korea at the end of the year. I've been learning a little bit of Korean by myself but am afraid it wouldn't be enough for me to understand anything once i reach Korea. So i'm wondering if the locals *in Seoul* are English friendly by even a slightest bit and if not knowing the Korean language make things just so inconvenient?

A. it's ok. u don't have to learn all korean terms. i think, as long as u can speak basic conversation in korean, no problem

Q. How does knowing the level of measurement for variables help a researcher examine outcomes in a study? What is the relationship of precision and levels of measurement?

A. Levels of Measurement: knowledge through observation and when we collect enough observations we form concepts. The process of connecting observations to concepts is known as operationalization. Specifying what we mean when we use certain terms is referred to as conceptualization. Survey research involves a systematic measurement of observations in order to come up with conclusions that lead to concepts. When we observe objects we understand them in terms of attributes. These attributes may vary from object to object. For example if hair is the object then the color would be the attribute. A variable is understood as a value that changes and is therefore a logical grouping of attributes. You can classify every observation in… [cont.]

A. is it a combination lock? If so,then you can put your ear up to the lock and listen. Spin the knob until you hear a click, then change directions until you hear a click, then change directions again until you hear the tick. You can also just ask a teacher. Tell them what happened and if they know the locker combo, which they should. Good luck! Hope I helped!

Is it possible to be able to read Chinese without knowing the language?
Q. I'm not too familiar with foreign languages especially one as exotic as Chinese, but I was wondering if it was possible to be literate in their character based script. I know that it incorporates many different dialects of Chinese with many speakers finding their language to be unintelligible with Mandarin, so I thought it could be possible for an outsider to decipher their writing system. Since their writing system is descended from pictorial caricatures is it possible to read Chinese without actually being fluent in their spoken language?
Asked by Jason - Sat Jun 26 21:40:16 2010 - - 8 Answers - Comments
A. this is such a cool question. yes it is possible though NOT because of the originally pictorial nature of the script, since the meanings of almost all characters are not now apparent from their shapes, i.e., they are not pics anymore. however, it IS possible, and in fact this is what i did when i studied chinese many years ago. i actually had a chinese book, two copies, and would sit with a friend, who was a prof of chinese, and read out to him in english what i thought it all meant. he was completely against this, but chinese profs are taught that this is not the way to learn, but it worked very well indeed. the only thing u do need is a little basic chinese grammar because the order and construction of things is often not the same… [cont.]

Q. How do defense lawyers sleep at night knowing they helped a pedophile walk free? I wonder if they care about their own children?

A. First, as someone has already mentioned, in an adversarial system such as the US courts have, all charged with a crime have an expectation of zealous representation. I know many defense attorneys who are able to separate the conduct of a client from their role in ensuring the state meets its burden of evidentiary proof. In other words, they see themselves as ensuring the state plays by the rules and has a solid enough case to warrant a conviction in the face of a competent defense. Of course, I also know many defense attorneys whose personal ethics and morals won't allow them to accept certain types of clients such as accused child molesters. Many of those also tend to have client interview forms (or ask during an initial conference)… [cont.]

Q. How could knowing the base sequence of a piece of DNA be important to someone trying to solve a crime?
Asked by Mikel - Wed Apr 15 00:01:19 2009 - - 2 Answers - Comments
A. Maybe you could look at the DNA strand and see if the person had a genetic related disease. Ex. DNA says that the person will have sickle cell anemia. (a swap of one of the genetic bases.) So you know that one of the three suspects has Sickle cell anemia..you can make the TV assumption that you have found the person's blood at the crime scene.

A. To answer your question, the difference between the two is a matter of one being a thought process (knowing), rather than an action performed (doing). One may know something, but one may not act. Selfishness contributes to thinking errors by placing a selective bias on information, decisions, or in the evaluation of circumstance. Selfishness places one's concerns as the primary focus; however, a situation may dictate an objective approach. Benjamin Franklin has a valid point. How do I get my medical records without my parents knowing?
Q. Ok so I was just wondering if you could get your medical records mailed to you at a college address? I don't want my parents knowing so I can't get them faxed or sent to my house. Also could I just go to my doctor's office and get them?

A. If you are an adult, you can just contact the doctor's office and request them. They can't legally tell your parents that you have requested them. You can have them mailed to you at college or you can pick them up. Call the doctor's office. They may charge a fee for finding and copying them. If you are a minor, you probably can still do the above. Check with the doctor's office. THey are your records.

A. I honestly doubt they'd trip if you tried to lose such a small amount of weight, but if you really want to keep your weight loss efforts from them, just make some small adjustments to what you already eat. Like if you eat a snack after school every day to hold you over until dinner, try not to. I just got an excerpt from a Dr. Oz Show article talking about how drinking water can help people with their weight loss goals, here it is: Mistake No 5:You Don't Drink Enough Water The next time you feel hungry, take a big, long drink of water and you may not need to eat. Because the hormones in our intestines that tell us we're hungry are very similar to the hormones that let us know we're thirsty, we're not very good at distinguishing hunger… [cont.]

A. Your BMI has been calculated as 20.72 using a height of 5' 7" and a weight of 9 stones 7.00lbs . (156lbs) or 61.36 kilo. Your BMI suggests you are a healthy weight for your height You are at least risk of developing weight-related medical problems. Your health may not necessarily benefit from further weight loss. It is important not to aim to go below this range. If you want to tone up go and see you school fitness instructor I am sure He/she will be glad to help.
